Dear Donors, Supporters and Friends,
You will be happy to know that 120 children in the village of Khairo Dero, Pakistan, started the new term after the summer break at their new school building on Aug. 2.
The building has been completed and furnished and the children were so excited to sit at their desks in their classrooms, they couldn’t stop smiling. Representatives of the Ali Hasan Mangi Memorial Trust visited with the children and gifted them new school bags to add a little more excitement to their adventurous journey. The teachers were equally happy to be working in the best building in the area and pledged to dedicate themselves entirely to the education of their students.

As you will recall, the school started functioning when the Pakistani academic year began on April 1 and since the building wasn’t ready, classes were arranged at another venue in the village. Children were enrolled in kindergarten and grade one only so they can be given a solid base on which they can then build as they progress on to grades two through five.
Given the high demand for education in this village, we plan to start a second shift next year so that twice the number of children can benefit from the school you helped build.
Your generous contributions and unwavering support made this project possible for the Ali Hasan Mangi Memorial Trust and we are deeply thankful to you. Your generosity has opened up a whole world of possibilities for the children of Khairo Dero.
Now, we plan to continue with our sanitation project by building a second sewerage treatment unit with our partners, the Orangi Pilot Project, regional experts in the field. The plans and drawings are complete, the site has been chosen and we hope to begin construction by October. Around the same time, we also plan to begin work on creating a community park for the people of Khairo Dero.
As always, we look to you for your continued support and encouragement as we raise funds for our new projects.
Thank you, as always, for caring.
Warmest regards and blessings from the people of Khairo Dero,
Naween A. Mangi
