Our most important initiative this quarter was to begin construction of a Community Clinic and an extension to our Community Center. This had been in the works for a long time but we finally took the plunge since our makeshift clinic that we’ve been running since May 2013 had fallen terribly short of space. The new clinic will have a waiting area, a medical record room, a pharmacy and two doctor rooms. We now serve about 400 patients a month from our village and several surrounding settlements; providing physician’s consultation, free basic testing, free medication and referrals plus surgery where needed. In an effort to improve our quality of service, we also started offering our patients a small fruit snack while they wait to see the doctor. And our little patients who fear the needle are distracted by small toys we give them to take home. Our aim: to offer service with love, warmth and compassion.
